Vodafone España ha lanzado la bitácora Vodafone 3GSM, para cubrir el 3GSM, feria del sector, que se está celebrando ahora mismo en Barcelona. En la bitácora, tres directivos de Vodafone comentan las novedades y demás acontecimientos.

Un película grabada con el móvil en el festival de cine de Rotterdam

La película es obra del cineasta holandés Cyrus Frisch, que comenzó a grabar lo que veía por su ventana. A través de los ojos de un soldado que acaba de volver a Afganistán, muestra la violencia de la ciudad moderna.

Frisch was responding to the impulse that makes people capture dramatic events - a large fire had broken out in Amsterdam’s Centraal station - on their mobile phones. But he decided to take the next step: a mobile-phone movie. Determined to cast a light on the increasing fear and tension he felt within Dutch society, he began by filming what was happening outside his window, where immigrant kids gathered in a square, irritating local residents who called the police. He then filmed clashes between
these youths and the police.

Mapas de Nokia gratis a partir del día 10

A partir del 10 de febrero, Nokia comenzará a ofrecer gratuitamente su plataforma smart2go para descarga. Con ella, se podrán descargar mapas y usar el teléfono como navegador (siempre que se disponga de un módulo GPS). Inicialmente el software se ofrecerá para algunos dispositivos S60 y Windows Mobile 5, pero la empresa planea ampliar la gama de móviles que puedan usarlo. Los usos más avanzados serán de pago.

Es un movimiento muy inteligente por parte de Nokia. Ahora que está integrando GPS en sus móviles, la navegación usando el móvil puede convertirse en un interesante uso de los dispositivos de más alto nivel. Habrá que esperar al sábado para ver qué tal funciona.

El Nokia N95 es una revolución

No lo digo yo, lo dice Christian Lindholm, famoso por haber participado en el desarollo del interfaz de los dispositivos S60. Dice del Nokia N95:

The N95 is a major upgrade compared even to the N73 launch last summer.  For anyone who makes phones, the N95 must be a source of stress. The sheer level of complexity to engineer this device would make most engineers have sweat pearls in the forehead. This is the most sophisticated gizmo at 120g ever engineered. Congrats guys, my hat off. My very rough guess is that more than a thousand engineers worked directly full-time on the device around the world and across the ecosystem, most of them have worked
very long hours. I am also sure that in the labs there are engineers and designers who already are bored stiff with it, busy making the successors, and like this they will blow your socks off when public. As an outsider I am constantly surprised by the seemingly acceleration of utility in some many domains. When I put the N95 next to my wife’s 6682, they seem to be from a different decade, and it is only two years ago. The N95 to me is yet again proof that we are living a mobile revolution that is about
to transform society in a profound way. All that said would I recommend the N95 to friends and family the answer is yes.

La verdad es que creo que exagera. El Nokia N95 será posiblemente un dispositivo más que notable, con muchas características interesantes y útiles. Posiblemente también sea el ordenador multimedia más fácil de usar de Nokia. Pero lo veo más evolucionario que revolucionario. Si bien ofrecerá muy buenas cosas, no ofrecerá nada sustancialmente diferente a lo que ya había antes. Y pronto, habrá otros dispositivos aún mejores.
